Hitachi Cable Ltd. has recently confirmed the compatibility of the Apresia Authentication Switch*1 and the LANDesk integrated IT resource management software*2 provided by Technological Development of Information-processing Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President: Masao Takeda; tdi hereafter). The combination of these two products enhances our line of PC quarantine LAN solutions that protect corporate networks from virus security threats arising from notebook computers and other IT equipment moved in and out of company grounds. tdi has also joined the EnSEC*3 Apresia security-alliance partner program promoted by Hitachi Cable.

Recent years have seen growing awareness of security issues related to corporate information networks. Security measures need to protect networks not just from attacks originating from outside the corporate network, but from within, an area traditionally considered safe. Such security risks include virus infections arising from the connection of PCs with inadequate security measures to networks, leakage of information by unauthorized users, and inappropriate use of networks.

Hitachi Cable provides authentication based on IEEE 802.1X*4 , the international standard, and PC quarantine LAN solutions based on Apresia NA (Network Authentication), a unique authentication function of the Apresia To make Apresia-based PC quarantine LAN solutions available to a wider range of clients, Hitachi Cable is currently seeking to ensure compatibility between Apresia and quarantine systems and devices provided by various manufacturers, and meet divers demands of clients.

Hitachi Cable and tdi recently confirmed the compatibility of Apresia Ethernet Switch*5 and tdi's LANDesk quarantine solution.

The LANDesk quarantine solution allows clients to easily configure quarantine conditions using the integrated management console (configuration screen), based on security policies. The combination of Apresia and LANDesk quarantine solution will help implement PC quarantine LAN solutions capable of meeting a broad range of client security needs.

Hitachi Cable plans to continue collaborating with its EnSEC partners, strengthen its security solutions product lines, and take advantage of sales routes opened through its Apresia sales partners to expand its share of the Ethernet switch market for enterprises and service providers.
